Urgent appointments

To request an urgent appointment for today (Monday to Friday)

  • phone us on 01246 862237 (select option 1), Monday to Friday, when we are open
  • visit the surgery and speak with a receptionist, Monday to Friday, when we are open
  • coming soon: you will be able to request an appointment online

Your appointment

However you choose to contact us we may offer you a consultation:

  • by phone
  • face to face at the surgery

Appointments by phone can be more flexible and often means the doctor or nurse can help you sooner.

Cancelling or changing an appointment

To cancel your appointment:

If you need our help when we are closed

If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.

NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

If you are in need of emergency care, support is available seven days a week at Whitworth Hospital and at Ripley Hospital (8am to 8pm). These services can treat a wide range of conditions which are not critical or life threatening such as sprains and strains, suspected broken limbs and feverish illness in adults and children.

Late night pharmacies available in the area: Tesco Pharmacy in Clay Cross (open till 10pm)

If you need help with your appointment

Please tell us:

  • If there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond.
  • If you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face or by text or email.
  • If you need an interpreter.
  • If you have any other access or communication needs.

Home visits

If you are housebound and need an appointment, we will do a home visit. We will phone you first to understand what you need.

To request a same day home visit, please phone the surgery before 11am on 01246 862237.

eConsult

If you need urgent help, please call the practice.

For non-urgent medical or administrative help, you can contact us using eConsult

This service allows you to tell us about your symptoms, ask questions, or request advice without needing to phone or attend the surgery.

Your request will be reviewed by our clinical or administrative team. Submissions are reviewed during our normal working hours, and we will provide a response once your request has been assessed.

Response times can differ depending on the nature of your enquiry and overall demand.

Please note: this service is not monitored continuously, and response times may vary.

If you have a medical emergency or need help outside of practice hours, please contact NHS 111 or 999 as appropriate.

Heidi Health

We are continuously reviewing our systems in practice and implementing software and tools that we feel benefit our patients experience with the practice. We are now using Heidi, an AI powered medical scribe, to assist in documenting consultations.

Heidi allows our clinicians to spend more time interacting with the patient and improving the communications during consultations. Heidi also increases the efficiency and accuracy of medical records, ensuring that visits are accurately recorded.

Heidi Health adheres to the stringent UK compliance frameworks, including the Data Protection Act, GDPR and NHS standards such as DCB0129, DTAC and DSPT.  This ensures that your personal information is handed securely and confidentially. All of Heidis data is hosted within the UK, enhancing security and compliance with local data protection regulations. Audio recordings used to general notes are not stored permanently, they are processed and then deleted, ensuring your data remains private and secure.
